Multiplication
VocabularyFactors are the numbers you multiply together to get another number. For example, in the equation 2 x 3 = 6, the numbers 2 and 3 are the factors.
A product is the number resulting from the multiplication of two or more factors. In other words, it's the answer to a multiplication problem. For example, in the equation 2 x 3 = 6, the number 6 is the product. NotesThe basic idea of multiplication is repeated addition. For example: 5 × 8 = 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 40. By learning our multiplication facts, we can make this process much easier. What if you have two large numbers like 64 x 37? This means we want to add 64 to itself 37 times. That would take a very long time. Instead, we can use a variety of multiplication strategies to make it easier.
